After the third weekend of the Surrey FA Flexible League, Reigate Women FC Lionesses retained the lead at the top with a third win in a row.
It was a fun, well-contested match. Woking Diamonds broke away after just 8 minutes and, after a great initial save by Beth Mulrenan in the Lionesses goal (who was playing in goal for the first time, due to an injury), took the lead. However, within two minutes, Libby Moy for RWFC Lionesses got the ball outside the area and curled an absolutely superb strike into the far corner to equalise.
After sustained pressure and a few half chances, Anais Escalona capitalised on a lose ball in the box and struck firmly home into the bottom left hand corner to make it 2-1 to the Lionesses after just 21 minutes.
In the second half, Lionesses’ player/manager Becky Keogh’s corner was curled in to make it 3-1, however some great play from Woking with 7 minutes remaining created an opening which was well converted, leaving the final score as 3-2 to the home team.
